Trashin' the Camp - Chester Gregory II & Ensemble

On July 8, 2007, the Tarzan Broadway Musical played it final performance at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in New York City. It had been running for just over a year.

The musical stared JOSH STRICKLAND (who you may remember from American Idol season two) as Tarzan and stuck pretty close to the Disney version.

Phil Collins, who wrote five songs for the Tarzan film, was asked to write nine more songs to fill out the story of this musical.

Today's cover is great, high-energy version of Trashin' the Camp from the Tarzan Broadway Musical and features the Ensemble singers with CHESTER GREGORY II in the lead as Terk. Gregory II was also cast as Donkey in the Shrek musical.

Mi Príncipe Vendrá - Mocedades

An anonymous reader turned me on to this Spanish Disney cover album by MOCEDADES. He/she requested Some Day My Prince Will Come off this album and since this is Request Friday I am happy to oblige!

Mocedades formed in 1967 in Spain and recorded many hit songs throughout the 70s and 80s. Though their music was popular mainly to the Spanish-speaking world, Mocedades was able to reach the American market with their single Eres Tú in the early 70s. Eres Tú is one of the only Spanish language songs to reach the top 10 in the United States and has been coverd by dozens of artist including Perry Como, Bing Crosby, Petula Clark, Johnny Mathis and even a duet between Chris Farley and David Spade for the movie Tommy Boy.

In 1997, Mocedades released their 21st album, MOCEDADES CANTA A WALT DISNEY, a collection of Disney songs in their Spanish pop sound. The track I am sharing with you today is Some Day My Prince Will Come from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Kiss the Girl - Ashley Tisdale

Happy birthday to ASHELY TISDALE who is celebrating her 23rd birthday today. Tisdale, who started her career as the girl whose head turns into a giant orange in the Gushers commercials, is best known for her roles as Maddie Fitzpatrick on The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and Sharpay Evans High School Musical.

Ashley will reprise her role as Sharpay Evans in the upcoming High School Musical 3: Senior Year which is actually getting a theatrical release rather than premiering on the Disney Channel like the last two.

While Ashley hasn't really branched out of the Disney world since becoming famous, she has branched out into other areas of media. She has released her own pop/rock record and has provided the voices of a few Disney characters including Candace Flynn in Phineas and Ferb, Camille Leon in Kim Possible and the Lead Blueberry Scout in A Bug's Life.

Kiss the Girl is a small sample of her music. While most of her stuff falls in the ultra-cheesy pop catagory, this song is a fun, high-energy version of the Little Mermaid ballad. I actually kind of like it a lot.

Colors of the Wind - CoCo Lee

It was 13 years ago on this day that Pocahontas hit the theatres for everyone to experience. Although it wasn't the blockbuster like its predecessor, The Lion King, this film was still beautiful in terms of artwork and animation. However, many criticized the film for its inaccurate portrayal of Pocahontas and her history. (But what Disney movie is 100% faithful to its origin?)

Today's cover is by Asian superstar COCO LEE who recorded this song for her second English-speaking album COCO'S PARTY in 1996.

CoCo Lee has had over a dozen and a half hit singles, but they are all over seas. So if you don't recognize her name, it's okay. CoCo has been recording music since 1993 and is still popular to this day in Asia. Although she hasn't seen the same sort of popularity here in North America, she released a few songs that you may know: A Love Before Time for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Before I Fall In Love which can be found on the Runaway Bride soundtrack.

That's How You Know - Demi Lovato

Sorry to everyone who thought you were going to hear a song yesterday. I thought I hit the publish button but I must not have because I came to write today's post and found the draft sitting there waiting for me.

I have listened to DISNEYMANIA 6 and it is just what you would expect from a DISNEYMANIA album. Lots of pre-teen pop fluff. There are a few good tracks but there are more than the usual amount of bad dance tracks in this volume.

I was deciding which track to post today and when I heard this one I knew I had to share it with you. Not because it's good, mind you, but because I couldn't believe how well this song translated into a standard Disney pop/punk song. If I didn't know that it was a cover of the Academy Award winning song from Enchanted I would have thought it was originally written in this style.

That's How You Know is sung by DEMI LOVATO, a 15-year old ex-Barney cast member who has just started her career with Disney. Disney is promoting her early as her first gig with the House of Mouse, Camp Rock debuts next month and her first album from Disney Records will be out in August. I'm sure she will be a success. She certainly fits the cookie-cutter.

Colors of the Wind - Ashanti featuring Lil' Sis Shi Shi

Say happy birthday to JUDY KUHN who was born fifty years ago on this day! Judy Kuhn, as many of you know, provided the singing voice for Pocahontas in Pocahontas and its sequel, Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World. To celebrate her birthday, I am posting a cover of one of Judy's songs, Colors of the Wind, this time performed by R&B/pop singer ASHANTI and her little sister Shi Shi.

Ashanti was one of those kids who was born to sing. Before she hit high school she had recorded a demo and set it to all the major record labels. But after a failed attempt to launch a career with P. Diddy's Bad Boy Records and Jive Records she decided to focus on high school. A smart move, returning to a normal life and taking some time to grow up before being thrown into the world of entertainment because very soon her whole life was going to change.

In 2001 Ashanti started singing background vocals for many big name stars. It wasn't long before her talent was noticed and she was featured on Fat Joe's What's Luv? and Ja Rule's Always on Time, two songs that hit #1 and #2 respectively in 2002, making Ashanti the first female to occupy the top two positions on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart!

So naturally, this was noticed by record execs and later that year she was in the studio recording her first album. The self-titled album, Ashanti, was released in April 2002, debut at number 1 on the R&B charts where it stayed for a few weeks, and sold over 504,000 thousand in its first week, making it the most successful first week debut sales for any female R&B artist! The album went on to win a Grammy for Best Contemporary R&B Album and has since gone triple platinum.

It comes as no surprise that everyone wanted a piece of the pie, including Disney who asked Ashanti to record Colors of the Wind for DISNEYMANIA. As far as covers go, this one is pretty dull. It doesn't at all give any clue to the amount of talent in Ashanti's voice. And her little sister Shi Shi is not that great of a singer. If you are hearing Ashanti for the first time with this song, please don't judge her. Check out some of her other work.

Ashanti's career has stayed strong since her debut and now she is getting into the acting career (one of her first roles was Dorothy Gale in Disney's The Muppets' Wizard of Oz). She has her fourth album coming out in a few weeks.

Don't forget that DISNEYMANIA 6 hits the stores today! I'll post a track from it as soon as I get a copy of my own.

Circle of Life/Can You Feel the Love Tonight - Richard Page

Here is a short Lion King medley (or is it an Elton John medley?) of the two most popular tracks from the movie, Circle of Life and Can You Feel the Love Tonight. This medley is sung by RICHARD PAGE, lead sing of the 80s pop band MR. MISTER.

Mr. Mister had a successful run in the late 80s after releasing their second album WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD in 1985. The album hit #1 in 1986 as did their hit singles Broken Wings and Kyrie. After the band broke up in 1989, Page started writing music for other pop artists, including Kenny Loggins, Josh Groban, Meatloaf, Michael Jackson and Celine Dion, just to name a few.

If you grew up in the 80s there is no doubt that you know Mr. Mister, but did you know that before Richard Page became the lead singer of the group he turned down offers to be lead singer for Chicago and Toto? With both of those bands still going strong today I wonder if Page is regretting his decision to go with Mr. Mister.

For a medley, this one is pretty weak. I love medleys and really appreciate the transitions that tie one song to the next. But this song almost comes to a stop before jumping into Can You Feel. I would have liked to hear a little bit more creativity from this hit songwriter.

When You Wish Upon a Star - Yasuharu Konishi & Pizzicato Five

Now we come to the end of the week and since it is Wish Upon a Star Friday and since we have been listening to READYMADE DIGS DISNEY all week I will be posting the PIZZICATO FIVE cover of When You Wish Upon a Star.

A lot of the time I find that mainstream Japanese artists are way more open to experimenting with their music than mainstream artists in North America. This is the case with Pizzicato Five. About half way through this cute little song, we get two instruments playing the same melody but a semitone apart making it sound very dissonant. But for some reason, I don't hate it. It just follows through with the rest of the album.

Thanks for being part of this week and I'm sorry if you don't like this album. I'll be back on Monday with something other than Pizzicato Five.

Part of Your World - Yasuharu Konishi & Pizzicato Five

Continuing on our week long look at READYMADE DIGS DINEY, here is Part of Your World by YASHUHARU KONISHI & PIZZICATO FIVE.

This track features MAKI NOMIYA, Pizzicato Five's lead singer. Nomiya, a recording artist since the early 80s with the New Wave band Portible Rock, joined Pizzicato Five in 1991 as lead singer and stayed with the group until they broke up. She has since continued on as a solo artist and is still active today.

The Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room - Hilary Duff

I know this is the moment most of you have been waiting for! A Hilary Duff cover song! Wait...you weren't waiting for this? Oh well, you get it anyway. I chose this cover of Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room for linklewtt who requested a cover of a Disneyland attraction (I don't know if he's a Duff fan).

But rather than talk about HILARY DUFF, I'd rather talk about the Enchanted Tiki Room and its theme song.

Living on the west coast I don't get out to Florida much. But last year I got the privilege of spending a week at Walt Disney World. I have seen the Enchanted Tiki Room show at Disneyland a few times but never have I seen the Enchanted Tiki Room (Under New Management)! I was ready to be treated to something new and something that brings together two cool Disney characters, Iago and Zazu!

I thought the show was very well done, keeping in the character of the original show but adding funny commentary from the two birds who are now the owners of the show. I know many people think of this show as an abomination and that nothing should have been changed, but please remember that Walt Disney always wanted the Disney theme parks to be constantly changing, for new ideas to be brought to life and for people to have a different experience every time they entered the gates. Plus, the attraction is still the same at Disneyland.

The Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room, which was written by the Sherman Brothers in 1963 was the first song ever written for an Audio-Animatronic attraction. Which makes sense since Audio-Anamatronics was invented and patented by Walt Disney Imagineering and the Enchanted Tiki Room was the first attraction to feature the new technology.

Some Day My Prince Will Come - Anastacia

The final entry for Snow White Week is the lead track off the first volume of DISNEYMANIA. This was back when Disney worked on getting bigger names in the pop music business to contribute to the album rather than culling their own field of Disney Channel stars.

One of the most famous of all Disney songs, Some Day My Prince Will Come has been given a nice R&B treatment by pop singer ANASTACIA. The song was voted #19 by the American Film Institute on their 100 Greatest Songs in Movie History list. The only other Disney song to rank higher on the list was When You Wish Upon a Star which was #7. (Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious was #36, Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah was #47, Beauty and the Beast was #62 and Hakuna Matata was #99)

Anastacia Newkirk, as much as she has tried, has not had the popularity she wanted in North America. When her first album was released in 2000 it quickly rose to the top of the charts in several European and Asian countries and reached #2 in Australia! She can sell out stadiums in the east but is still a relatively unknown here in the west.

In 2003, she was diagnosed with breast cancer which affected the way she approached life and her music. She continued to tour until 2005 when she decided to focus on other interests like fashion. But rumour has it that she is working on a new album to be released later this year. Hopefully this one with be more popular in the States.

You'll Be in My Heart - Steve Tyrell feat. Dave Koz

I don't have very many covers of Phil Collins' You'll Be in My Heart. In fact I don't have very many covers of any modern Disney songs due to them being new. I know that seems to make sense, but it seems hard to believe that a song that hits #21 on the American Top 40 charts and can still be heard on Adult Contemporary radio all over the world isn't given more attention in the cover world. I mean, if Winnie the Pooh can get dozens of covers why can't You'll Be in My Heart?

For whatever reason, jazz musician STEVE TYRELL decided to include the Tarzan ballad on his 2006 album DISNEY STANDARDS. This song and When She Loved Me from Toy Story 2 are the two newest tracks on the album, both having been featured in movies that came out in 1999. I can accept You'll Be in My Heart being called standard (although if it were a standard wouldn't it be covered more?) but would you really call When She Loved Me a standard? I don't know about that.

As it stands right now, it seems like the only covers of this song are off albums released by Disney Records, the newest one being a cover by Drew Seeley on next month's DISNEYMANIA 6. If any of you know a cover of this song that is not Disney produced, please let me know!

By the way, DAVID KOZ, a well known jazz saxophonist, plays the sax solo and I think he is singing back up vocals as well.

I'll Try - Jesse McCartney

Amazon finally has a listing for the sixth installment of the popular (or not so popular depending on your taste) DISNEYMANIA albums. There was a rumoured track list that included famous artists like Justin Timberlake, Gwen Stefani and Hillary Duff. It now looks like that list is totally bogus. Here is what's listed on Amazon
1. If I Didn't Have You - Mitchell Musso and Emily Osment
2. That's How You Know - Demi Lovato
3. Some Day My Prince Will Come - The Cheetah Girls
4. Kiss the Girl - Colbie Caillat
5. Cruella De Vil - Selena Gomez
6. Real Gone - Billy Ray Cyrus
7. Can You Feel the Love Tonight - Elliott Yamin
8. He Lives in You - Elijah Kelley
9. You'll Be in My Heart - Drew Seeley
10. When You Wish Upon a Star - Kate Voegele
11. Reflection - Keke Palmer
12. When I See an Elephant Fly - Plain White T's
13. Ever Ever After - Jordan Pruitt
14. My Strongest Suit - KayCee Stroh
15. A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes - Nikki Blonsky
Although most of these artists are Disney Channel stars, most of them haven't been on a DISNEYMANIA CD yet. There are a few bigger names like Billy Ray Cyrus, Plain White Ts and Nikki Blonsky (Hairspray).

I think the most exciting part about this album are the first-time covers! Real Gone from Cars, That's How You Know and Ever, Ever After from Enchanted and My Strongest Suit from Aida all get covered for the first time (that I'm aware)! A few other songs that don't get covered often are also included on this list: If I Didn't Have You from Monsters Inc., He Lives In You from Lion King 2 and When I see an Elephant Fly from Dumbo.

Today I'm posting a track from JESSE MCCARTNEY who has appeared on three of the DISNEYMANIA albums but is not on this upcoming one and who is celebrating his 21st birthday today. This is his version of I'll Try from Peter Pan: Return to Neverland.

DISNEYMANIA 6 will be released on May 20 and can be pre-ordered on Amazon. If you would like to talk more about this upcoming release or just voice your opinion, you can take part in the discussion in the Covering the Mouse Facebook Forum!

Yo Ho (A Pirate's Life For Me) - Pointer Sisters

A big 'ol "happy birthday" goes out to the eldest Pointer sister today! Ruth Pointer turns 62 today and I've chosen a special cover that fits our Pirates Week theme!

Today, the POINTER SISTERS many only be heard in commericals with their hit I'm So Excited, but there was one time when this sister act was a top selling pop/r&b singing group. They broke into the scene in 1973 with their hit Yes We Can Can and were a solid force for the rest of the 70s and into the 80s with hits like Fire, Slow Hand and Jump (For My Love).

If you are a Sesame Street child like I am, I'm sure you will recognize the Pointer Sisters singing the classic Pinball Number Count.

I've posted the Pointer Sisters version of Yo Ho to give this week a bit of variety. While this isn't the best version of the song, it is a good representation of the Pointer Sisters' style and abilities.

Colors of the Wind - Lea Salonga

Many Disney fans should recognize the name LEA SALONGA. If you don't recognize the name then perhaps you will recognize the voice. Lea Salonga was the singing voice for Jasmine in Aladdin and Mulan from Mulan I & II.

Her career started in the Philippines in 1978 when she was seven. She took part in many Broadway musicals including The King and I, The Sound of Music, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and Annie. By the time she was seventeen she had already recorded two albums and starred in her own tv show, Love, Lea!

Her big break was moving to the UK to star as Kim in Miss Saigon, a role that she would reprise numerous times between 1988 and 2001. She continued to do many musicals and recorded many albums, the latest of which came out a month ago.

This cover of Colors of the Wind is taken from one of her live concerts in the Philippines in 2001. Lea has a great voice and I enjoy listening to her sing these classic movie songs. I think I even like her singing this song more than Judy Khun.

Two Worlds - Corbin Bleu

The star of High School Musical and Jump In! turns 19 today! CORBIN BLEU, the Disney Channel star, is a year older. Aside from staring in the mega popular High School Musical and other various Disney Channel TV movies and guest appearances on various Disney Channel TV shows, Corbin has also released one album of Disney pop (which I like to call D-pop). It was a huge success with tweens everywhere.

For DISNEYMANIA 5, Corbin took a shot at singing Two Worlds, the other Phil Collins single from Tarzan. It's not bad. I kinda like the funk groove that is used in the chorus, but then the chorus doesn't really fit in when it reverts back to that Phil Collins style. Oh well, a least it doesn't suck.

Part of Your World - Jessica Simpson

The first song I ever posted here at Covering the Mouse was a cover of Part of Your World by a Japanese pop band and several months and over a hundred songs have past and I haven't posted another! Well, it's time for that to change! Joshua wants to hear JESSICA SIMPSON'S version of Part of Your World, so here it is!

In 2002, Disney produced an album of their biggest songs reworked by the some of the biggest names in pop of the time. This was before Disney decided to use these albums as a vehicle to promote their own artists. You won't see the Jonas Brothers, Ashley Tisdale or Miley Cyrus on this first volume. Instead, DISNEYMANIA will treat you to Usher, NSYNC, Smash Mouth, Ashanti, S Club and Jessica Simpson! If you enjoy this genre then DISNEYMANIA is worth the money you pay (or don't pay).

This was also back in the day when Jessica Simpson was a respectable singer instead of a bad actor and a blonde who is constantly getting different sorts of plastic surgery. Simpson actually does a fine version of Part of Your World, mostly because I feel that Jessica really identifies with Ariel and means the lyrics she sings. She longs to explore new horizons apart from her over-protective father/manager. Unfortunately she obtained this 'freedom' and went on to star in Employee of the Month. Good job Jessica.

Winnie Puh - Tatiana

TATIANA is a very prominent figure in the world of Disney. However, you may not have heard of hear unless you are from Mexico. Tatiana is a children's entertainer who longed to perform from a young age and now, thirty years later, has recorded over two dozen albums, 24 of which went gold, 8 platinum and 4 diamond! Wow! Not bad for a children's entertainer!

If you watch any Disney DVDs with the Spanish audio track there is a good chance that you are hearing Tatiana as the lead female. She has a contract with the studio and is the go-to girl for Spanish female dubs.

In 2002, Tatiana released LOS MEJORES TEMAS DE LAS PELICULAS DE WALT DISNEY, an album of Disney music reworked into her pop/dance style. I have posted a sample of her work from this album, a song called Winnie Puh, the Spanish way of saying Winnie the Pooh. A year later she released a second album of Disney tunes.

I know this album is for kids and that means potential for major cheese, but this one is the cheese whiziest. The beats and sounds take me back to the eighties. When I first heard this song I almost couldn't tell what song it was supposed to be. It wasn't until I heard the chorus the second time that I knew for sure, and then in the verse when she says 'Christopher Robin' in a very American accent.

The Second Star to the Right - Jonantha Brooke

The Disney sequel that I will talk about today is another that I would put in the 'sequels I like' catagory. The story of Return to Neverland is one of those lame 'offspring does opposite of what the main character did in the original' plots. Usually I don't like those at all but for some reason this movie really hooked me (Captain Hook! Get it?!).

The story follows Jane, the daughter of Wendy, who, because she has grown up during war times, is very jaded and cynical. She doesn't believe in Neverland or Peter Pan and refuses to stay a child. I really liked Jane's character and the way she deals with both kid and adult situations. The animation is very good for a sequel and the music is really great too.

I had never heard of JONATHA BROOKE before I saw this film. She is a folk singer who has been releasing albums on her own record label since the early 90s. She was asked to provide some music for this Peter Pan sequel and she recorded I'll Try, one of my favourite modern Disney songs, as well as a cover of the Second Star to the Right. The song sets the mood for the film by creating a melon collie version that foreshadows the dramatic situations that are about to happen.

Only a snippet can be heard in the film so please listen to the whole thing here or buy the soundtrack.

A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes - Michael Bolton

It's the second Friday of the month and you know what that means! Terrible Track Friday! I've got one today that will make your ears cringe.

If you're a Disney fan then you know that MICHAEL BOLTON provided the music for Hercules in 1997. However, did you know that he recorded a version of A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes in 1991 for SIMPLY MAD ABOUT THE MOUSE?

I can't say that I am much of a fan of Michael Bolton. I like his song writing but his voice leaves something to be desired. My least favourite part of the Hercules soundtrack is the pop version of Go the Distance. I chose this track today because he goes the distance with his normally strained voice and ends up sounding like he's clenched his butt cheeks together so hard he could turn a lump of coal into a diamond in there! The result is a nails-on-a-chalkboard like sound that is his voice.

Don't want to listen to the whole thing? Then at least skip to 2:30 to hear what I'm talking about.

Feed the Birds - Garth Hudson

Today is Request Friday and Peter requested that I post this cover of Feed the Birds, so here it is!

Growing up in a very musical family, GARTH HUDSON quickly learned that his parents had passed down the ability to be a great musician. By twelve he had already become an expert at the piano and organ and was writing his own music. When he was 21, after he graduated from university, Hudson joined the Hawks, a rock band that would eventually become The Band. He was their keyboardist and musical adviser.

Hudson was part of The Band during its eleven year run from 1965-1976. The Band gained popularity by opening for Bob Dylan's 'electric tour' in 1966. After the band retired, Hudson continued to make music, recording songs for soundtracks, playing recording sessions, releasing solo albums and albums with his wife, Maud.

The Band reunited in the 80s and released three more albums. This put Hudson back in the spotlight so when Hal Winters was looking for musicians for his Disney tribute project, STAY AWAKE, he thought of Garth. The track that Hudson chose is Feed the Birds, the ballad from Mary Poppins. This instrumental piece really shows his skill in playing the keyboard, synthesizer and accordion. This arrangement is very complex but very beautiful to listen to. Hudson does a great job of making it interesting but still easy to listen to.

Stranger Like Me - Everlife

Happy birthday Phil Collins! The hit songwriter for Tarzan and Brother Bear turns 57 today and I'm celebrating by posting a song from Tarzan. Joy wanted to hear a cover of Stranger Like Me so I figure this is the perfect time to post this cover by EVERLIFE.

Everlife is a trio of sisters who taught themselves how to play their instruments and write music and have been together as a musical group since 1997. They first entered the Christian music scene in 2005 on SHELTERrecords but moved on to Buena Vista Records (aka Disney) in 2005. They recorded many songs for Disney soundtracks between 2005 and 2006 and then in early 2007 they released their first album on Buena Vista.

Their pop/rock style is very typical of the Disney Records roster. They fit very well with Jump5 and Hannah Montana. But don't totally write them off because of that. Their cover of Stranger Like Me is a real compliment to a rock-god like Phil Collins. They only add a few extra elements to the song, more distortion, extra guitar lines, harmonies, and female vocals, but it sure changes the feel and makes it their own.

Proud of Your Boy - Clay Aiken

Today is Obscure Disney Song Friday and to finish off American Idol Week I have chosen a deleted song from Aladdin that was featured on the Platinum Edition DVD.

Proud of Your Boy was an important song to the staff of Aladdin. It was written by Howard Ashman and Alan Menkin, the composing duo who also wrote the music for The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast. The song focused on Aladdin's relationship with his mother and Ashman said that it was his favourite song in the film.

In the middle of Aladdin's production Howard Ashman died of AIDS. It was tough for the staff but it became even tougher for Alan when the decision was made to take the mother out of the story. The cut meant taking Proud of Your Boy out of the film which now Alan had become very attached to since the death of his friend.

You can hear the original demo put to storyboards from the scene on the DVD as well as a new recording of the song by American Idol second season runner-up, CLAY AIKEN

Aiken won second place but only barely. The votes were very close but Ruban Studdard still won. But what really matters is what happens after that! Clay's career has been ten times Ruban's career. He has recorded three albums and an EP. His three albums all debuted in the Top 5 making him the fourth artist ever to have his first three albums debut in the Top 5!

He has toured the world, sang the national anthem at the World Series, won many awards, has been on countless TV specials and is currently playing the part of Brave Sir Robin in the Monty Python's Spamalot! Broadway musical!

Even though I can't really stand his music, you have to admit that he has done pretty well for himself.

Would American Idol Week be complete without a sampling of some of the bad that has come out of the competition? Of course not! That is why I am posting a track from everyone's favourite loser, WILLIAM HUNG!

William Hung gain popularity when he auditioned for the third season of American Idol in 2004. His lack of pitch and rhythm when he attempted to sing Ricky Martin's She Bangs was a hit on the internet after its airing and he has since gained a cult following. Kosh Records saw this an jumped on it, offering him a $25,000 advance to record an album. It was released six months later! That faster than any Idol winner released their debut album!

This version of Circle of Life comes from his debut album INSPIRATIONS which also includes two other Disney hits, Can You Feel the Love Tonight and Tarzan's Two Worlds. If you really want to check out this disc you will also be treated to such hits as She Bangs, I Believe I Can Fly, Hotel California, Rocket Man, and YMCA.

Recently, I've been introduced to Arrested Development and absolutely love the show. In an episode in the third season the family is airing out their problems on court TV and William makes a cameo as William Hung and the Hung Jury playing the court TV's theme song!

Reflection - Jordan Sparks

Let's continue on with American Idol week with a track from the most recent season of the popular show. JORDAN SPARKS was the youngest Idol winner when she won the sixth season contest at only 17 years old! Her singing was constantly good and she never landed in the bottom three for the entire season.

She has moved on to release her first album which was released a few months ago has already gone gold and her single, Tattoo, reached #8 on the US Hot 100 chart! Just like Ruban and Clay, Jordan is in a battle with runner up Blake Lewis to see who gets the most album sales and digital downloads.

Jordan's performance of Reflection was the second song she sang for the contest and was well liked by the judges.
