TONY BENNETT, one of the great American singers, has had a sixty year career of singing jazz and pop standards, mostly out of what is known as the Great American Songbook, a collection of songs from the 20s to 60s, primarily made up of Broadway showtunes and Hollywood musical numbers.
I'm not sure if Pinocchio's When You Wish Upon a Star is in the Songbook, but it really should be. It is a song that has transcended time and genre and is a theme for many people, places and era. Tony Bennett recorded this number for his children's album, THE PLAYGROUND
, in 1998.
