Disney's first musical hit came in 1929 in the form of Minnie's Yoo Hoo, penned by composer Carl Stalling. Stalling was a theatre organist back when movies were silent and required a live musician in the theatre house to play along with the picture. He met Walt Disney in Kansas and helped Disney get his new 'sound' cartoons off the ground by providing musical scores. Stalling co-created the Silly Symphonies with Walt, suggesting that the music be the basis of the entertainment. Stalling found greater fame a few years after working with Disney, as the chief musical director for Leon Schlesinger's Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies.
Minnie's Yoo Hoo can be first heard in the short Mickey's Follies, and later became the theme song for most of the black and white Mickey Mouse shorts. These days you can hear it all over the Disney Parks.

I Love Kerry Butler's entire album, but this is definitely one of my favotites. It's so great to hear a cover of such a rarely known song. And her version is really adorable :-)
