There are five songs in Robin Hood and five days in a week here at Covering the Mouse (Monday to Friday), so I wanted to feature each song on its own day. Unfortunately, Robin Hood songs are seldom covered and Whistle Stop is covered the least of the bunch. Fortunately, Jamie sent me a great medley of Whistle Stop and Oo-De-Lally so to spare all of you from me posting the Hamster Dance!
This cover is by JEFFRIES TIN, an unsigned indie band from the UK formed by two guys who went to school together in 2005. They have recorded one album, SOME SONGS, which they are happy to give you for free, all you have to do is ask! Otherwise, many of their songs are available as free downloads. Take a look around their website, facebook, myspace, and last.fm because they have made different songs free for download at each of these sites. You can download Whistle Stop (Oo-De-Lally) here.
There are lots of big names that record Disney songs, many of which are featured here. But I much prefer to highlight up and coming acts, especially good ones, since they need the exposure much more than, say, Miley Cyrus. Check out Jeffries Tin!

I like that one!
At first, I wasn't sure what to think of another cover that was faithful to the original... but then I stuck with it, and I'm glad I did. Good rhythm, melodic vocals, and down right catchy; often some of the aspects that makes some UK indie acts so appealing in the first place.
I will certainly check them out... and probably promote this blog entry through the necessary channels.
Love it.
Here in Germany the "Reitherman-Disneys" gain special popularity. "The Jungle Book" still is the highest-grossing picture in german cinemas and "Aristocats" and "Robin Hood" are similar popular. "Odelaly" and the "Whistle Stop" are songs I often sing, play and heard other people sing.
I like the Hamsterdance Song, though.
The more I listen to this one, the more I love it!
