Trust in Me - The Jungle V.I.P.'s

I was catching up on my fellow cover tunes bloggers, and I found that Versions Galore had posted a handful of Trust in Me covers a few weeks ago! Some of the covers I have posted here, but there are a few that may be new to you!

Here's one cover that they didn't post (mostly because it's not their style): This track is taken from a Disneyland Record that was released in 1967 called SONGS FROM THE JUNGLE BOOK, just after the release of the feature film. This LP doesn't contain any of the original songs, but rather arrangements that sound pretty standard for Disney records of this age. It doesn't credit him, but I would imagine that it was Tutti Camarata, Music Director and Producer for Disneyland Records, that arranged these songs, as he often did for the record label.

The singers on this album are credited as the JUNGLE V.I.P.'S which is a reference to a line from I Wan'na Be Like You. They are simply the studio singers that are often credited as DISNEY SINGERS on other records. Notice that they change the lines at the end of the song to Trust in US. I'm not sure why they made this change. It doesn't make sense in the context of the film, but maybe they did this because there is a group of people singing? I don't know.

Did you know that Trust in Me was a scrapped song from Mary Poppins? The Sherman Brothers, who wrote majority of the songs for both films, originally wrote this tune for a song called Land of Sand but decided to use it for Jungle Book when asked to start writing for that movie.

Fuck me, this one puts all mine to shame, how did I miss it?!?!?
LOVE the weird mix of what sounds like Jimmy Smith on organ and the Lawrence Welk Choir on Vicodin.

(thanks for the plug too btw ;-) )
