Not in Nottingham - Los Lobos

My friend, Jamie, found a fantastic Robin Hood cover that he wants to share with you all, so I have decided it to be Robin Hood Week here at Covering the Mouse! He will share that song with you in a few days. In the meantime, let's kick off this week with a downer.

I say 'downer' because of the subject matter of the song Not in Nottingham. Originally sung by Alan-a-Dale (voiced by Roger Miller), the song sings about how good times have disappeared in Nottingham. It is an incredibly touching moment as the denizens of the Nottingham jail try their best to comfort each other despite needing comfort themselves.

LOS LOBOS includes their own take on their latest album LOS LOBOS GOES DISNEY. I don't have many covers of any of the songs from Robin Hood, but out of the few I have, this one is my favourite.

This is one of my favourite Disney songs period and I'm thrilled there are at least a few covers out there (which you've already featured, of course) recognizing its greatness.
