Pink Elephants on Parade - Barbara Cook

Tony Award Broadway singer BARBARA COOK recorded an album of Disney songs which she released on vinyl back in 1988. THE DISNEY ALBUM is a great album by Cook. Her background in Broadway musicals allows her to not only deliver touching ballads, but also playful songs that the average pop musician would be able to pull off.

Songs like I'm Late, Give a Little Whistle and Pink Elephants on Parade are hard songs for a serious artist to cover with credibility. The somewhat goofy nature of these types of songs don't lend themselves to the world of rock, country or adult contemporary, but they are perfect for a Broadway singer. We heard this accomplished a few months ago with Barbra Streisand's Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf. Cook delivers the same sort of performance here and places herself in Dumbo's nightmare and reacts pretty much how any of us would react if place in that situation.
