Over the weekend, a Disney Legend passed away. ILENE WOODS was a friend of songwriters Mack David and Jerry Livingston. The songwriting duo was working on some music that Walt Disney commissioned them to write for his upcoming feature film, Cinderella.
As a favour to her friends, Woods recorded So This is Love, Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo, and A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes for a demo that would be presented to Disney for his approval of the music.
At the time Disney received the demo, he has already auditioned more than 300 girls for the role of Cinderella. But upon hearing Woods on the recording, he knew that he had found his princess! Two days later, Disney called Woods asked he to fill the role, to which Woods gladly accepted, surprised that she had unsuspected auditioned.
Ilene Woods died on July 1st due to causes relating to Alzheimer's disease. She was 81 years old. Today's cover is to her memory, sung by jazz crooner STEVE TYRELL from his album DISNEY STANDARDS

Another heart-warming tribute to another Disney legend. That was definitely the right song for such a sad occasion, as hearing about her death made me appreciate her 'small' contribution to such a popular film.
