Be Our Guest - London Pops Orchestra

There are many orchestral Disney tribute albums out there, and while they usually sound great, half the album is nothing more than simplified versions of the score from the film, and the rest of the album is made up of orchestral versions of pop songs that just sound ridiculous.

THE LONDON POPS ORCHESTRA PLAYS DISNEY is a mix of those simplified versions, ridiculous orchestral pop songs, and a few gems. The worst on the album are I Just Can't Wait to Be King and Hakuna Matata, the best on the album are When You Wish Upon a Star, Arabian Nights and this one, Be Our Guest from Beauty and the Beast.

By the way, I'm talking about the arrangements, not the playing ability. The orchestra sounds stellar. And why not? THE LONDON POPS ORCHESTRA is one of the best in the business! Conducted by Ian McMillan, this orchestra has appeared on numerous UK film and TV soundtracks as well as performing at awards ceremonies, corporate events and conferences!

They have recorded many albums, including this one which they released in 2009. It's not available through amazon.com or .ca, but you can get a copy through amazon.co.uk.

I can understand your criticism about these orchestral tributes. That one does sound like diluted version of the original song, with an upbeat feeling of a pop song.
It sounded okay, but, as you have addressed, doesn't do much with the original source that much. I'm just glad that was, according to you, one of the more tolerable tracks.

So romantic....I love it! :D
It's in the "Hello, Dolly!" movie style, but I think a bit more rhythm would do.
