If you can believe it, Walt Disney's classic Silly Symphony, The Three Little Pigs is 77 years old! It was released on this day in 1933! I never tire of this cartoon and is is just as fresh today as when I first saw it as a child.
To celebrate the anniversary of this wonderful film, I've chosen a fun cover by Barbra Streisand. This track can be found on her very first album, THE BARBRA STREISAND ALBUM
In her early years, long before this album was recorded, Streisand wanted to be a Broadway singer. She ended up singing in nightclubs where many people didn't understand her Broadway-esque style. But it was in one of these nightclubs where she was discovered by Orson Bean who got her on The Tonight Show which was hosted by Jack Paar at the time. It wasn't long after that when Babs landed the lead role in Broadway's I Can Get It for You Wholesale. This album followed shortly after and really shows off her musical theatre style.

Superb! Bravo Barbra Streisand!
All I can say is what a pair of lungs she has.
I don't think this is my favourite version of the song, as it is a bit too theatrical for my tastes, but it sounds like she had fun recording this.
I love the ending. Really puts you in the scene.
Thanks again for my Daily disney Fix.
Only Barbra could make a silly nonsense song in to a work of art! There is nothing she can't sing, A genius.
