Covering the Mouse reader/listener Mélanie has sent me this cover of Dumbo's When I See an Elephant Fly sung by British singer-songwriter MIKA
This is a live recording taken from a TV special that aired a month ago on March 28 on ITV1 in the UK. The special was called Ultimate Movie Toons and counted down the top ten songs from animated films and had them performed by popular European singers. Of course, Disney ruled the night, but a few non-Disney songs sneaked in there for good measure, including Walking in the Air from The Snowman, which actually did really well as a single in the UK when it first came out.
Anyway, back to Mika. It's fitting that they had him perform on this show, seeing as his first album is called LIFE IN CARTOON MOTION. Since his debut in 2006, Mika became a sensation in the UK and quickly found international fame with his single Grace Kelly. Last year he released his second album, THE BOY WHO KNEW TOO MUCH, and the single, We Are Golden, hit #4 on the UK Singles Chart!
Most recently, Mika recorded the title track for the new Marvel Comics' film, Kick-Ass.
Here is a video of Mika's performance on Ultimate Movie Toons.

I first heard this song in its german version, which is completely different. It has nothing to do with the original, it has a complete different melody - actually it's more spoken than sung, but also funny.
I realized that this song sounds very different in the original first, when I heard Robbie Fulks Cover on your site. I love that version and it became one of my favourite songs, even more when I heard Jim Brickman's version, from which I cannot tell if it is better than Fulks' or not.
This version by MIKA transferred the song to another musical style with another perfect arrangement and sounds also very good. Love it. I will always be pleased when I see an Elephant fly - no I mean when I see a new cover of this song at your's.
