Someone's Waiting for You - Justin Hayford

Closing off the week is a lovely version of Someone's Waiting For You, the heartfelt ballad from the Rescuers. This version is simple and isn't even two and a half minutes, but is a pleasure to listen to thanks to the jazz vocals of JUSTIN HAYFORD and is jazz piano.

Hayford comes from a family of musicians, but it wasn't until he had fully established a career as a human rights case manager for people living with HIV/AIDS that he looked at playing jazz piano and singing as more than just a hobby.

He released his first album, A RARE FIND: FORGOTTEN GEMS FROM THE AMERICAN POPULAR SONGBOOK in 2001, picking more obscure songs from the 30s and 40s. His second album, LOOK WHO'S BEEN DREAMING: NEGLECTED TREASURES FROM HOLLYWOOD'S GOLDEN AGE, takes the more obscure songs from a variety of old movies, including Baby Mine from Dumbo. Fans of this website will not find that song obscure at all!

This second album is where you will find Someone's Waiting for You. It is an interesting song choice for an album with the sub-heading Neglected Treasures from Hollywood's Golden Age. The Rescuers was released in the 70s and I'm pretty sure that Hollywood was out of its Golden Age by that point.

For you cover lovers, Hayford's third album, IT ALL BELONGS TO YOU: UNSUNG COLE PORTER, is made up of lesser known song by singer/songwriter Cole Porter.
