I haven't posted anything from my favourite Disney cover album, READYMADE DIGS DISNEY
Most people put listening to It's a Small World and swimming in a swimming pool filled with razor blades in the same category, but that is because they haven't listened to this version! YASHUHARU KONISHI and his band, PIZZICATO FIVE, really have a knack for making really fun, upbeat covers of even the more annoying of songs. The counting to six, the repetitive drum fills, the Japanese children's chorus all add up to a unique cover of a classic song.
Speaking of classic, have any of you been on the It's a Small World ride at Disneyland lately? Have you noticed that the imagineers have put Disney movie characters in the ride? Pictured above is the "Small World" versions of Alice and the White Rabbit. Also seen in the ride are characters from The Little Mermaid, Cinderella, Aladdin and Toy Story.
People are all up in arms about changing one of the only attractions that hadn't been majorly altered since the opening of the park, and I don't know where I stand on the subject, but I am reminded that Walt always said that he wanted the park to be constantly changing. He wanted the guests to experience something new every time the visited. Walt didn't even think any of the rides would be there after a few years because he planned to replace them all with something different.
What do you think? Is this an abomination of a classic attraction, or in line with Walt's original vision?

This song rocks the casbah! "Swimming pool filled with razor blades" - ha, Weird Al reference? They're actually counting to eight, I believe. As far as the additions to the rides/new rides are concerned, I'm ok with it. Change is good, we should embrace change. We still have the classic 'Small World', but now we're blessed with even MORE puppets to creep us out! YAY! I really am a fan of 'It's A Small World'... Honest. :)
definitely in line with Walt's vision. Anything that gets people going on a ride that's decades old is good
