Jack's Obsession - Sparklehorse

Not all of the tracks on NIGHTMARE REVISITED are good. And since today is Terrible Track Friday, I am going to share with you this terrible cover of Jack's Obsession by SPARKLEHORSE.

You can correct me if I'm wrong, but this cover is so unfaithful to the original that it should just be another song all together. Some people may find the new melody and bad falsetto voice pleasant to listen to but I find it to be boring and monotonous.

Damn, pretty uncreative with posts. Just post the whole damn "Nightmare Revisited" CD and get it over with.

I wanted to feature this album this week. Next week you'll get to hear some more variety.

You referred to this song both as "Jack's Obsession" and "Jack's Lament"...but "Jack's Lament" is a completely different song...just wanted to clear that up, but i do totally agree...this cover absolutely blows.

Thanks for the heads-up. I have corrected the post.

I have to disagree with those who do not like this cover. Sparklehorse have always been about whispful lo-fi slightly off-kilter tracks. Jack's Obsession is a perfect opputunity to develop a track into this style. I know it is not faithful to the original but I feel that this version is excellent. The lyrics fit the stylistic approach... Simple As That!

Isn't the point of a remake to add your own take to a song you'd appreciate? I mean, if you want the same song listen to the soundtrack, it's not like Diana Ross didn;t switch up the lyrics or the feel of supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, but it's still here. It stuck out, and I enjoyed it.
