I know it's spring and nowhere near winter (it's a bright, sunny day here in Vancouver) but I thought it would be fun to post a cover from a movie that I haven't talked about yet. Once Upon a December is the well-loved ballad from the 1997 hit Anastasia. Like all Disney musicals from the 90s, Anastasia's music was what made this film so good. In fact, the movie was nominated for two Academy Awards: Best Music, Original Musical or Comedy Score and Best Music, Original Song for Journey to the Past.
This cover is sung by 12-year-old EKATERINA SHELEHOVA from her album POPULAR SONGS. Ekaterina has been singing and recording music since she was three years old. Her love for Opera music is evident in her style and one look at her website shows her passion for music and singing.
Her cover is quite good considering her age. And the treatment of the song is true to the original but still sets it apart as its own. I see big things int he future for this little girl.

I love Anastasia (well all of Don Bluth's films really)! This isn't Disney though. Bluth worked for the Disney company for awhile and then got tired of working on stuff that didn't capture the old Disney magic so he left to do his own work (like All Dogs Go to Heaven and American Tale). Once Upon a December is a beautiful song no matter who is singing it but she does a good job!

Anastasia is not a Disney film, although it is commonly mistaken for one.
Nice and subtle. Despite being somewhat hyper-aware of April Fool's this year, I let my guard down when reading your post. How could Kurtis of all people not know it's not a Disney movie?!? And here I was coming to berate you, but luckily someone else bought it before me!

I really like the Don Bluth movies, too. And this is a pretty good movie song for it not being a Disney movie :P
