It's a Small World - Rockapella

When Walt Disney created the Small World ride for the World's Fair in 1964, he went to the Sherman Brothers for a song. He originally wanted the ride to feature all the nations theme songs, but when he realized that it would end up sounding like a garbled mess the Sherman Brothers wrote him a song that would unify all the worlds. Little did they know that It's a Small World would go down in history as one of the most annoying songs ever.

However, this version of It's a Small World is by the awesome a cappella group ROCKAPELLA. The group, which is most famous for their Folgers commercials and the Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? game show, turns this annoying tune into a very complex piece of music.

For those of you who don't know about this style of music, a cappella is music that is made completely with the human voice. There are no instruments used at all. Every single sound you hear is made with the human voice! Way cool.

Sorry, bro, but I think Rockapella's version is 1000 times worse than the original!

Boy bands, go away!

Is Rockapella like Menudo, none of those guys look like the same ones on the Carmen San Deigo show.

I really like this version. I like that they added the bridge to the song, and I also like the funny section in which they're all saying different greetings, and one guy says, "Wait, what am I supposed to say here?"

I like accappella, and I loved their theme tune to Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego. So, in other words, there is a good chance I will like it... and I do!

Such a catchy tune which I think is better than the original (It's a Small World is, in my opinion, the most infamous Disney ride theme song.)

Vote 2008 - Cream of the Cover Crop!

I love the original interpretation of this song (especially the bridge and the "Ah-yay"), with a light tongue-in-cheek flavor ("Uh, wait-- what am I supposed to say?" when they start saying greetings in various languages). This is one of the best covers of the song.

Vote 2008- Weird World of Cover Tunes!

I voted for this cover, purely on the basis I cannot stand the original, but I love acappella. There are not a lot of covers I can say that about a version of a song.

Vote 2008: Cream of the Cover Crop

Rockapella's version of this song is not only sung with panache, it is also sung with love: the arranger, Scott Leonard, worked at Tokyo Disneyland as a performer before he joined Rockapella. I also like the additions of the bridge and everyone speaking in the different languages.

I love a cappella anyway, but Rockapella blew me away with this song...and it's even better live, when they move like the dolls on the ride. Awesome!
